Three Ways to Establish "Real Time Training"

Council Sponsored Trainings are trainings that are scheduled by Volunteer Services and are listed on this page under Course Schedules. These courses are scheduled in advance and have trainers assigned to them. Volunteer Services manages the date, time, and place of these courses and the Registration Unit manages participant registration.

Service Unit Sponsored Trainings are trainings that are scheduled by the Service Unit Trainer working in conjunction with the Service Team in response to the needs in the community. The Service Unit Trainer manages the date, time, and place of these trainings.

Service Unit Training is training that can only be requested by a Service Unit Director/Volunteer Services Manager when the courses that are being offered do not meet the need in your community.

Service Unit Sponsored and Special Service Unit Training Courses can be "Open" or "Closed".

  •  Open Courses are courses that are not limited to one Service Unit.
    • Enrollment for Open Courses may be handled through the Registration Unit. Please see "Registering a Course" procedures.
  • Closed Courses are courses that are limited to invited members only. A Service Unit Director may choose to close the course for a couple of reasons, for example, when she already has the maximum number of participants signed up.
    • Closed Course registration must be handled by the Service Unit Director or her designee.

All Service Unit Sponsored Training Registration and Special Service Unit Training Request Forms must be mailed to Heather Day in Akron at 345 White Pond Drive, Akron, OH 44320. If the course was not set up by Heather through the Special Service Unit Training Request form, then a Service Unit Sponsored Registration Form must be filled out and is also available for download by clicking here.

A minimum class size of 5 is the standard in order to ensure that there are enough participants to do small group discussions; however, exceptions will be made when necessary.
