High Adventure Troop
High Adventure Girl Scouting is for any girl at least 11
years old or in the 6th grade and up. There are activities every month,
including horse camp, scuba diving, caving, zip-line, rock climbing, ice
skating, canoeing and an old favorite: Spa Day. Summer trips have gone
to Costa Rica, Key West, Canada, West Virginia, Hawaii, England, Spain,
France, Portugal and Morocco. As you can see, travel is international as
well as national.
The goal of our group is to develop leadership, life
skills and team work. To do this girls plan, organize and implement our
monthly events. Older girls teach younger girls the skills needed for
each event. We also conduct money earning projects to help defray trip
expenses and we encourage girls to earn their Gold and Silver Awards.
Every other month clinics are held for girls working on
Gold and Silver Awards; i.e. what needs to be done, what you can do to
earn the awards, how to fill out paperwork and more.
Fund raising is offered during the year for everyone to
raise money for the upcoming trips and events. Whether it's Europe or a
monthly event, everyone can earn her way. You can participate in
Traditional QSP and Cookies also. Money-earning is not required but is
available to all to help defray trip costs.

Traveling Girl Scouts
Traveling Girl Scouts is a Special Interest Group
dedicated to providing International Travel opportunities for
older Girl Scouts throughout Lake Erie Council. The leadership
of this group has over 15 years of international traveling
experience behind them with Girl Scouts! We don’t want to take
the place of your regular Girl Scout troop. We intend to
supplement the older girl program by providing international
travel opportunities for girls wishing to travel as well as for
troops who couldn’t otherwise travel on their own. What we do
have are:
- Monthly meetings held on Sunday afternoon or
evening, when we learn about the countries we will be visiting
and Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting in those countries.
- Fundraising opportunities where girls and
adults work together to support each Girl Scout’s trip costs.
-
Fun with your sister Girl Scouts and gaining confidence and
independence.
-
Local community service projects and camping.
-
Meeting
girls throughout the counties in the Council

International
Travel Group How about a trip to
the “Land Down Under” or a snorkeling adventure in the tropical
waters of Hawaii? Would you like to walk where the ancient
Romans lived or take a ride on Loch Ness in search of Nessie? Is
travel your thing? Then the Girl Scout International Travel
Group is for you! Each year we travel to an exotic location and
you are invited to come along. If you are a girl 11-17 years
old, you can join the International Travel Group. One catch is
that to travel internationally, girls must be 14 years old. But
you can join the group before then because we offer lots of
fundraising opportunities so you can start saving for the trip
of your dreams. Also, adults who wish to travel with us are
invited to come along for the ride! What’s in it for you? Fun!
Plus you will gain confidence, independence and become
self-reliant.
We are a special interest Girl Scout Group
aimed at keeping older Scouts, in the 11-17 year range, active
in scouting. We serve the entire Lake Erie Council area,
encompassing Cuyahoga, Geauga and Lake counties. Most girls who
belong to the Travel Group also belong to a traditional troop.
Our main focus is preparing for and carrying out international
travel experiences for girls and adults. WE PROVIDE A WORLD VIEW
TO OUR SCOUTS!
The leaders of this group, Cheryl Soltis-Muth
and Bette Idemoto, have over 15 years of experience between them
traveling with Girl Scouts. They have taken scouts all over the
United States, Europe, South America, Australia and New Zealand.
The group does not intend to replace the troop you’re in, but
rather provide an additional activity to add to your girl
scouting experience with these travel opportunities. Through
monthly meetings held on Sunday afternoons or evenings,
travelers learn about the countries they will travel to, as well
as about Girl Scouting and Girl Guiding in those countries.
Travelers learn:
- How and what to pack
- How to stay safe and healthy on the trip
About currency, exchange rates and budgeting money
- Cultural diversity & sensitivity and
respect for other cultures
The group offers many fundraising
opportunities to help with trip costs. Fundraisers include:
- Cookie, QSP and calendar sales
- Spaghetti Dinners
- Car washes
- Concession events
