Visit the First Ladies National Historic Site!

Martha WashingtonView museum exhibits, see First Ladies original gowns and a Victorian theatre, as you are guided on tours by costumed docents.  Tour Hours:  Tuesday through Saturday:  9:30 & 10:30 am, 12:30 pm and 1:30 & 2:30 pm.  Sundays in June, July & August:  12:30 pm, 1:30 pm & 2:30 pm.

Admission:  $7 adults; $6 seniors and $5 children.  Reservations required for groups of six or more and recommended for all others.  Free parking, and buses are welcomed.  Located at 205 Market Avenue South, Canton, Ohio  44702.  Call 1-330-452-0876 or visit www.firstladies.org.

Girl Scout Equine Badges!

R & R Dude Ranch offers special Girl Scout packages and programs for those interested in earning their Equine Badges -- PLUS MORE!

Located in scenic Cattaraugus County in Western New York, in the heart of the Allegheny Mountains, R & R Dude Ranch is right next to Holiday Valley Ski Resort in Ellicottville, just one hour south of Buffalo, New York, and within 500 miles of most of the major cities in the USA.

The Girl Scout Program consists of a two-night/three-day stay in their Bed & Breakfast facility
with all six meals provided, horseback riding/lessons, and a ranch T-shirt. 

Girl Scouts will learn the What, Why and How of every avenue of horse care and maintenance.  You'll be exposed to several types of riding...English/Western/Bareback and Survival.  Concentration will be on Western where you'll learn to groom, tack, mount, sit, ride, guide, trot, canter, control and dismount properly.

All this as well as a wide variety of games/group activities and team work.  The R & R Dude Ranch is run according to the "Safety Wise" rules at all times!

This is a list of outdoor sites with descriptions, locations, costs and web addresses to help you plan activities with your troop.  The list can be viewed online or downloaded for reference later.

Leaders Resource List

To better plan your program year, activities may be scheduled to accommodate your group’s schedule.  A list of many organizations appear on this list.  Most have web addresses as well as telephone numbers and contact persons.  Explore and find places you can take your troops.  

Museums

Many an enjoyable day can be spent in a local museum.  Some offer special programs for troops.  Listed are contacts and operating hours. 


Appalachian Caverns Opens Registration for their 4th Annual Cadette Senior Caving Camporee

Appalachian Caverns is pleased to announce registrations have now opened for our 4th Annual Cadette Senior Caving Camporee to be held beginning on June 23, 2008.

This year we have expanded our activities and are pleased to offer 3 separate packages for troops to choose from.

The "Basic 3" ($60) includes:
All the components to complete the Caving IPP along with the IPP (i.e. regular walking tour, seminar on bats and caves, a 3-4 hour wild tour in the caverns and the service project)
Gem mining at the caverns (new this year)
An evening at the local drive in theatre (new this year)
Miniature golf
Nature hike (new this year)
Camping
Ice Cream Social (should your chosen times include Saturday when this is held)

The "Bonus 4" ($100) includes:
 All the activities of the Basic 3 and one additional activity of your choice from the "7 Days to Do It All" package

The "7 Days to Do it All" ($150) includes:
All the components of the Basic 3 option plus
Whitewater rafting
Mountain biking (new this year and includes bike rental)
Rock climbing
True wild caving in a cavern with no commercial development (new this year)

There will be a limited amount of camping gear available for rental at an additional charge for those troops who desire to fly into our local airport. (Located just a few miles from the caverns, airport code is TRI) If you're flying we'll even assist as much as possible with transportation to offsite activities.
