Camping

Boat House

Our camp sites are open to Girl Scouts everywhere.  If you are a Girl Scout, you are welcome!

Camp Julia Crowell/Hilaka is located on 345 acres in Richfield in Summit County. The Julia Crowell side was purchased in 1937 and the Hilaka acreage was added in 1959. Both camps have many cabins, houses, platform tent sites, primitive tent sites and (Hilaka only) one Adirondack shelter campsite. There is also a museum of books and past Girl Scout uniforms in the Mill located on the Julia Crowell side. The total camper capacity is 515.

High Lea Shelter

Intergrove Cabin is located in North Chagrin Reservation. The land is part of the Metroparks. The single room cinderblock cabin was built in 1960. It has a total camper capacity of 24.

Change in reservation process

Intergrove Cabin is now being operated by the Cleveland Metroparks. While the park system has always owned the cabin,  GSLEC was formerly responsible for it’s operations and maintenance. Metroparks is now doing that; plus remodeling the cabin and adding a shelter adjacent to it. Its new name is Intergrove Lodge.

What does this mean for Girl Scouts who want to reserve Intergrove for camping?

Troops can still reserve Intergrove for weekends that are exclusively for Girl Scout use as stated in our agreement with Metroparks.  To reserve it, troops will follow the regular GSNEO campsite reservation process and pay the Girl Scout fee of $55.00.

What weekends can Girl Scouts reserve the site?

2008 Weekends:

  • May 16 – 18,
  • June 13 -15, June 20 -22, June 25 – 27,
  • July 4 – 6, July 25 -27,
  • September 26 – 28,
  • October 10 – 13,13,
  • November 14 – 16,
  • December 12 – 14.

Remodeling should start some time this summer or fall.  If we need to move a troop who has a reservation when the cabin is close for remodeling, a site at one of the camps will be provided at no additional cost to the troop.

  • What if my troop wants to use Intergrove at a time different from the designated Girl Scout weekends?

Troops can reserve the site through the Metroparks for the Metroparks fee. For reservations or more information, call (216) 635-3200, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Wintergreen Cabin is located in Rocky River Reservation. The land belongs to the Metroparks, but GSNEO owns the cabin which was originally constructed in 1954 and rebuilt in 1982. It is a cinderblock cabin and the camper capacity is 24.
